Our Story

Our Mother Rabiya Khatoon was a homemaker and our Father Masood -ul-Haque worked in the Department of Excise, Govt. of Bihar. We were five sisters and six brothers, the family was brought up in a low-income neighborhood of Baniapokhar, Gaya.

Bringing eleven children and providing them education was not easy for our parents, they sacrificed a lot to give us the best education, most of us went to a convent school, Nazareth Academy. Our neighborhood was poor, majority of the kids in our neighborhood went to government schools.

Our parents did everything to give us the best education, our mom never went to a school, but she made sure that we wore the nicely pressed school uniforms every day to school, she will remind us everyday to do our homework and will make sure that there is no disturbance when we were studying. At home we were given basic Islamic education and were taught to preserve our faith and religious identity.

Our Father was hardly at home, either he was posted out of town on government duty or was working to support the family.
Due to financial difficulties some of us had to drop from the convent school and had to go to the government school in higher grades. Even though some of us went to government schools, we still strive to do the best and made every effort to continue our studies. 
The sisters continued their education in Gaya and were married when they graduated from college, the brothers were sent to universities out of town to continue for their higher education.

The children of Masood family are now spread over in India and USA. Our sisters also followed in the same footsteps of our mother, and they also provided the best education to their kids. 
Today “The Masood family” has several Engineers, Doctors, Scientists, Entrepreneurs, Home makers spread over US and India.

The Rabiya Masood foundation has been established by the children of the Masood family in memory of their parents to advance the agenda of education and to give back to the community where we come from.
